| Present: Linda Valentine, Carole Makela, Angela Smith,
Laurel Kubin, Judy Clock
The minutes of the June 6 meeting were reviewed and
approved as recorded.
Carole has received the new membership update from
AAFCS and said the reports are arriving more regularly
and the reports contain only new members and renewals,
not a complete report. There are currently 68 members
listed for Colorado.
Carole received $60 for the book
donations.
Judy reminded all of the articles needed
for the newsletter about what members experienced at
the AAFCS conference.
The new AAFCS logo should be used on the newsletter.
Angela will attend the CATFACS Board meeting on August
15. She will discuss the new FCS logo and the resolution
that was adopted to promote the FCS education more.
Members discussed the need to develop a written memorandum
of understanding with any organization that we collaborate
with to hold a conference. This should be written at
the beginning of the relationship.
Angela will not
plan go to APU unless the program content would provide
new information. She would prefer that
our president elect attend should we have a president
elect by then.
Carole and Angela agreed that there
were numerous good sessions at AAFCS but that the scheduling
was complex
and there was a lot of overlap of sessions.
The competition
among FCS teachers and their students for posters that
depict the benefits of FCS is a topic
that Angela will discuss when she meets with CATFACS.
Perhaps the best posters from each school be on display
at the state School Board Conference. Ideas were offered
about where students might display the posters in their
individual communities such as retail windows, libraries,
city councils.
Use of the new FCS logo should be encouraged.
The tool kit has numerous suggestions. Angela is requesting
permission for us to use the new logo for the next
five years. It will be used to promote the field of
FCS through public relations tools, conference materials,
and CAFCS communication tool as a matter of practice.
Laurel
will distribute a doodle poll to determine the date
of our next conference call which will be in September.
We will hold a face to face meeting while at the Consumer
Issues Conference in Laramie WY October 5 – 7,
2011.
Meeting adjourned at 2:50 p.m.
